The new monstrosity
So my thumb is healing properly, but slowly. Cast from before has turned into a removable cast that I'm supposed to leave on most of the time. Next wednesday, I go to hand physical therapist that well get me a training-wheel sort of cast that still protects but is a little smaller and more manageable. Needless to say, I want very happy with the doctor today when he put me back in thus thing. Positive notes: still no surgery required and I can take it off to shower! But that's it. Boo.

Not much new...
Well, not much new to report here.... unless, of course you care about my hygine! Only two more morning showers left with the cast on! I go to the doc Thursday after school to get this big hunk of blue off (switched colors after the 3 week x rays). Please don't say: "Boy, that went quickly!" because... it didn't.
We had quite the teaser of good weather last week, only to be followed by the return of winter today! Mom and Dad might even get to freezing tonight. Yikes! As a teacher, I feel as if it is my duty to look forward to summer vacation, so in that light, here are some highlights that made me smile and dream of sun, and I hope they do for you, too:
(A few from last summer and a few from our honeymoon because I'm getting nostalgic... 4 years coming up next week!!!)

Welcome Bryce Henry Hamilton!
Many Congrats to Garrett and Kenzie, who welcomed their son (and our nephew!), Bryce Henry Hamilton at 3:59 am on April 29th. He was 6 pounds and 19 inches long. A small little pumpkin! :-)
Tonight, Bryan and I got to Skype with the family and saw Bryce sleep and pass some great physical tests! Such a cutie!!!

Thumbs up or Thumbs down?
Hello all! Tomorrow will mark my two week anniversary in my beautiful purple cast. Sadly, not a happy anniversary because that means I still have FOUR (!) weeks left in this darn thing. Because that brings me down a little, I have decided to make a Top Ten list for GOOD things that have become of this monstrosity. So here I go....
10) My purse is filled because I have to carry a garbage bag everywhere I go in case it starts raining... and this is good because then I can't drop anymore junk in my purse!
9) I looked like a bad-ass at the gym last night on the elliptical with a cast on
8) Hitchhiking skills have improved greatly
7) I am getting good at typing with my right hand only (casted thumb gets in the way and hits the space bar accidentally!)
6) Left shoulder is getting toned from holding my arm up and out of the shower
5) Can't get cast wet, so makes it tough to do dishes... sorry Bry!
4) It's really hard to fold laundry without an opposable thumb... sorry Bry!
3) Can't get cast wet, so it makes it tough to take dog for walk in the rain... sorry Bry!
2) Something is always handy and available for an autograph at the Mariner's game
1) I get to give a perpetual thumbs up!
I know, kind of a lame list, but I'm trying here! :-) Dr. appointment next week to make sure the bone is still in place and still no surgery... wish me luck!
So, what do you think....

First water problem in the homestead...
Ended up as a pipe rubbing against a nail... Which they are not supposed to be near. Water damage experts coming in next! Ugh.
